Sunday Summary – Music: July 27, 2008

Slacker! That’s what I am!

Either that, or concerned, devoted husband and father. (Yeah, let’s go with that one!)

Either way, I’m late on the Sunday Summary, and so I apologize.

And I shouldn’t BE late, especially with this past week’s experience!

This week, I really made a conscious effort to really enter into worship, even (or especially) while playing on stage.

I made a point to really know the music I was playing, and so the music / technical part became second-nature muscle memory, and I was really able to focus my mind and heart on worshipping God.

And that’s kinda the tough thing for band instrumentalists. There’s still good, quality music that needs to be played – the challenge is to do that (your “job”, for lack of a better term), and still consciously enter in to worship and focus on God. That’s tough, no matter what song you’re playing or how well you know it. It does, however, become easier to do the better you know the song.

So band guys, let that be your challenge: Do your “job” so well and effortlessly that you can focus your conscious on worshipping God.

Sorry singers – you have no excuse. 😉

We had Louie Giglio back for the 2nd message of his 2 part series “Home Free – Even Me” this week. The message was titled “Fruitcake and Ice Cream”, and was stinking incredible. You have GOT to watch it on the North Point Web site!

God Is Alive by Steve Fee and Eddie Kirkland

Hands of the Healer by Eddie Kirkland

**Both of these tunes will be available on real soon!!!

Well, if you listen to Louie’s message, you know he sets up Mighty To Save – and so we did it, with great release from the crowd.

It ended up being quite an emotional response, and one that laid heavy on all our guys. By the end of 3 services, we were all pretty tapped out emotionally.

That’s the sign of a good day 🙂

East Band – Eddie Kirkland, Danny Grady, Brad Long, Scott Meeder, Richard Meeder, Ryan Stuart, Me

West Band – Casey Darnell, Mike Hines, Jerely Moyers, Earl South, Joe Lee, Jared Hamilton, Jordan Watts

What has tapped YOU out lately?

  1. Reid, any way we might be able to get the settings on the patches that your guitar players are using on the x3 live? I just got one and have some decent settings but am struggling with patches that mesh well with worship music. Thanks
