If you are searching for a post referring to how and why we program a Sunday morning service, I apologize, but it’s no longer posted.

I jumped the gun and prematurely posted notes based on a still-evolving concept that is not yet ready for a public audience.

We want to continue explore, refine and discuss the concepts, definitions and terminology before sharing it publicly.

The teaching is possibly something that Andy would most likely do himself when addressing a public audience, such as at Drive conference or in a written piece in the future.

Thanks for your understanding!

  1. Hi,

Do you happen to have the chords or know someone with the chords for Steve Fee’s song ‘God is Alive’ (…everyone/glorify the risen son/the holy one has overcome/jesus is alive…). I heard it at a conference and love it but can’t find it, though I’ve seen on iTunes many other people doing it. Anything would be great help! In cause you don’t use this blog often, I’ll post this on your most recent post as well…

    Thanks for your help!

  2. so does that mean if we copy/pasted it and saved it, we should delete it??
there was some GREAT stuff in there by the way. absolutely phenomenal

  3. Man, I hate that it’s gone. I’m glad I read it while it was up because it’s definitely affected how I think about service planning.

It was good while it lasted! 🙂

  4. I have a question for you about your post that was never posted. Hopefully you can comment without commenting. When you do a closer is it usually a special or “worship” song? Or is there a mix of both?

    • Mix of both. Sometimes a specific worship song fits perfectly, not to mention it’s a tangible chance for folks to respond.

If I were to guess, I’d say that we do a closer only about 20 – 25% of the time, and that the mix would be 66 – 75% Special songs and 25-33% worship songs.

So over the course of a year, we’d do around 12-15 closers, and 4 or 5 of them would be worship tunes.

BUT – that’s not a rule of thumb. We’ve gone through stretches with what seems like a closer every week, and other periods of time without a closer in sight.

      Hope that helps!

  5. totally random and off-topic…
I was watching “Balanced” on DVD, and I was wondering what the shiny material that was used in your set, for the lit up colored wall. if you know, i’d love to know the answer!
